Home Staging by MuralizeIt Interiors: Staging a master bedroom

The master bedroom is the second most important area to stage in a home, according to a report done by the National Association of Realtors.  The report also states that 47% of people consider the living room the most important room to stage and 35% say the kitchen is third in importance.

To be more appealing to a buyer the master bedroom has to be calm, elegant, neat and spacious. In a bedroom the bed is the most important element to consider during staging. We use full or queen beds, which are big enough to call attention, but not as big asking beds which can make rooms appear smaller. We only use king beds in very large rooms with high ceilings.

Since the bed is the focal point of the room it is real important to play it up. In terms of the color of bedding we go with neutral tones which give a sense of relaxation. The bed is one of the places to add texture with puffy comforters or duvets. With the pillows we add accents like blue, teal or pink. Adding a lot of pillows gives a room a luxurious feel.

We often  use fabric headboards with neutral colors that are elegant and add some texture at the same time.

We don’t include dressers to stage a room. They are out of style and take away valuable square footage of the room. An accent chair to relax or a nice bench at the foot of the bed are much better furniture options to add in a bedroom.

Rugs are another good way to add texture to the room. We place them on the side of the bed or in a sitting area if we include it in our staging.

We go minimal on the bedside tables with lighting options that have a high end appearance. Usually we add a stack of books or a candle to the nightstand, always keeping a clean and tidy look. Plants and flowers make any room more inviting.
